Cortland Prepares For Jets' Arrival

As preparations are just about complete for the opening of Jets pre-season training camp at SUNY-Cortland, the city of Cortland will celebrate the team’s arrival Sunday afternoon.

Main Street between Court and Tompkins Streets will be closed off to traffic for what’s being called the Jets Touch-Down Party, which will feature music and food, team merchandise giveaways, and a speech by head coach Rex Ryan.

Cortland Downtown Partnership director Adam Megivern says community response to the event has been positive, allowing the city to use some volunteer security for the festival.

Megivern adds consideration of a temporary suspension of open container laws is still being examined.

The festival will run from 3 to 5 PM, with the team's buses arriving about 3:45. The HBO documentary series “Hard Knocks” will be following the Jets throughout training camp in Cortland.
